DREAM CAMPAIGN SUPPORTS 11 RESEARCH FUNDING PRIORITIES
Pain Management and Quality of Life after Surgery ($20,000)
Little is more devastating to a patient, the patient's family or those caring for a patient than to have a successful operation that prolongs life, but diminishes the quality of that life. After lung surgery, in particular, chronic pain resulting from incising the chest along the ribs is common. In order to better understand the relationship between chronic pain and quality of life, we plan to assess quality of life in these patients before surgery and at six-weeks and one-year after surgery.
