DREAM CAMPAIGN SUPPORTS 11 RESEARCH FUNDING PRIORITIES

Brain Injury in the Animal Model of Cardiac Surgery ($180,000)

We plan to conduct extensive and state-of-the-art genetic analyses of the mechanisms surrounding the neurological and cognitive injury associated with cardiac surgery by using different breeds of rats placed on the heart-lung machine. Included in this technology is the capacity to selectively silence genes in order to understand the full effect of these genes and to develop and prioritize potential therapeutic targets.
