Over the years, the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke has worked conscientiously towards enhancing patient care. Our comprehensive research program has focused on defining, investigating, and preventing organ injury during surgery. The valuable insight and knowledge gained as a result of our research discoveries have led to the advancement of patient care and development of therapies for improving patient outcomes at Duke and all over the world.

The success of our efforts in education, research, and patient care has strengthened our resolve to provide Duke’s talented clinical and basic scientists an environment conducive for the development of our common goals. The Duke DREAM (Developing Research Excellence in Anesthesia Management) Campaign will give a much-needed boost to our research initiatives that have the ultimate mission of bringing healing and hope to our patients. This initiative will give our scientists the necessary impetus by funding their research aimed at improving the care of patients. It will ensure that their efforts in the laboratory and the operating room translate to better treatment across the spectrum of human illnesses.
